How we check every listing

Short version: we read each studio's own website, write down only what it actually says, link each detail to the page it came from, and print the date we looked. Here's the longer version — including what we refuse to publish.

What we check

Temperatures: The actual operating range of the cold plunge and the sauna, in Fahrenheit — not the marketing number on the homepage.
Pricing: Drop-in rate, day pass, and monthly membership where each exists. If a studio does not publish a price, we record no price rather than guessing.
Access model: Whether you get a private suite, share a communal space, or can choose. This is the detail people most often get wrong when booking.
What is actually on site: Which modalities the location genuinely has. A chain listing infrared sauna nationally does not mean this branch has one.
Still open: That the studio exists and is open. Recovery studios open and close quickly, and stale listings are the single most common failure everywhere else.

Where each number comes from

From the studio itself — nowhere else. Not from review sites, not from other listing sites, and never from a guess. Next to almost every price and temperature you'll see a small dated link: click it and you land on the studio's own page, on the exact detail we read. You never have to take our word for a number.

Every week we go back to those pages. If a studio has changed a price or taken a page down, the detail gets flagged and a person re-reads the page before anything changes here. The date on a listing always means someone actually looked that day — it is never quietly refreshed to seem current.

What the date can't promise: that the studio's own page was right, or that nothing changed an hour after we read it, or that a plunge set to 40°F reads exactly 40°F on a busy Saturday. It promises one thing — we didn't make the number up, and you can go check it yourself.

What each status means

Not every listing carries the same confidence, so we say which is which rather than flattening everything into one badge.

Verified: We confirmed the details in more than one place — the studio’s own site plus its live booking pages or other public channels — and they agreed on the stated date. These get re-checked roughly every 90 days.
Brand import: Details came from a chain’s own location list. Reliable for the address, less so for current prices — so we date it honestly and upgrade it once we’ve checked the location individually.
Community: Read from the studio’s own website on the date shown, with most details linking to the exact page they came from. It hasn’t yet been double-confirmed through a second channel, so it says Checked rather than Verified — we’d rather under-claim than over-badge.
Closed: Confirmed to have shut down. Removed from every list on the site, and kept on record so it can’t sneak back in by mistake.

What we will not do

Invent details. If we do not know a studio's plunge temperature, the field is absent. There are no filler values anywhere in this site.
Publish scraped listings as verified. Imported data is labelled as imported and dated as imported.
Rank studios by opinion. No star ratings, no scores. Where we rank anything, it's sorted by one published number — cheapest drop-in, coldest plunge — and the page says which.
Pretend to cover what we don't. If a city has too few checked studios to be worth your time yet, we don't dress it up — we finish the research first.

Staying fresh

Listings are rechecked on a rolling cycle — verified listings roughly every 90 days, and nothing goes past it unflagged. Because the date is printed on every listing, you never have to take our word for how current it is — you can see it and judge for yourself. The most recent check across the whole site was 2026-09-02.

Spotted something wrong? Send us the correction through the listing form, and note the studio name — corrections are prioritised over new submissions.
